Debate In Mississippi

The 2008 Presidential Debate will be in Mississippi at the University of Mississippi also known as Ole Miss. The location of the debate is becoming controversial because Mississippi has a history of being one of the most racist states in the United States of America. Therefore some feel that this debate can turn for the worst and the safety of Obama and others could be at risk. Authorities have already stated that if the KKK (Klu Klux Klan) does decide to protest they will be allowed to. I understand that they have to allow the KKK to protest because it is apart of their first admendment right however, as a notorious racist organization I hope authorities have set up tactics to futher protect the presidential nominees and other citizens. In addition it is a greater concern of mind that people such as Klansmen still exist in the year 2008 , hundreds of years after slavery and nearly sixty years after the Civil Rights Movement. I do not feel that the debate should be held in Mississippi because of its reputation and potential threat.
