Minimum Wage

Minimum Wage seems to be an issue that the government is not taking very seriously. This is not very surprising to me because these wages are not affecting the government personally. I am concerned with minimum wage being only $5.85 due to the economy and the prices constantly rising for the general needs of people. Many students face this dilemma while struggling to pay for their own bills, school, food, ect. There are many parents that unable to help thier children financially, which puts a burden on individuals only making minimum wage. From personal experience and living on my own, it would not be possible for me to afford the financial responsibilities I have had to take on if my job only paid minimum wage. Like me, some are fortunate enough to find higher paying jobs, but this is not always the case. What actions if at all will the government take to contribute to this issue that many are facing today?
