News Coverage on Sarah Palin
I am concerned with the negative views on Sarah Palin, republican candidate for Vice President. The media has placed great focus on her status as a woman with five children and how she can hold the responsibilities of Vice President. I realize the role Sarah Palin would take on if elected into office, but I resent what negative opinions the media has put coverage on. My beliefs on this political matter are focused on how well she can help lead a country. I think this responsibility should have no effects on Sarah Palin's personal life. It has been a deep discussion on the role of motherhood and how this may affect her life as a mother and as Vice President. I believe that in this century many abrupt changes have come about such as women rising up in the work force. I feel that these comments made against Palin are considered to be sexist. I am strongly for feminism and truly believe that men and women should be equal. In stating this, the gender role should apply in the work force and in our personal lives. If the situation were to be changed involving a man for Vice President with five children, the outlooks of his leadership would not be questioned. This political matter seems very unfair and proves to me that the social changes women have worked so hard to achieve are slowly diminishing.
